Cookie Policy

Tapeto uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the service, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our site and measure the results of our advertising. Apart from the essential ones, none of them is loaded until you accept.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We also use local storage and session storage for similar purposes.
Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the site to function. They include authentication tokens (InsForge session), CSRF protection tokens, and your cookie consent preference. You cannot opt out of these without impairing core functionality.
Affiliate Program Cookie
If you arrive through an affiliate link, we store the affiliate's code and the date of your visit in a first-party cookie called tapeto_ref and in local storage, for up to 60 days, shared between tapeto.dev and app.tapeto.dev. We treat it as essential for the affiliate program: it is only set when you follow a link that carries a code, it contains no personal data and it is not used for advertising. If you sign up, the code is stored with your account so the recommendation can be credited, and a temporary cookie called tapeto_ref_pending (7 days) carries it to the app and is deleted afterwards. You can delete these cookies at any time from your browser.
Error Monitoring
We use Sentry (EU servers) to detect and fix technical errors. When an error occurs, Sentry may receive technical details such as the page, browser, device and IP address. This is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the service stable and does not involve advertising cookies.
Analytics Cookies
With your consent we use three tools. PostHog (EU servers) records the pages you visit, the features you use and session duration, linked to a pseudonymous identifier kept in a cookie and in local storage (up to 1 year). Microsoft Clarity records sessions and generates heatmaps to understand how usable the interface is (cookies _clck, up to 1 year, and _clsk, 1 day). Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, produces usage statistics (cookies _ga and _ga_*, up to 2 years). Inside the app, these tools may associate your activity with your internal user identifier. Once you are signed in, our servers also send PostHog some product events (such as a finished conversion) linked to your internal identifier; they are only sent while your cookie consent is active.
Advertising and Campaign Measurement
With your consent we use the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland) and Google's advertising signals to measure the results of our campaigns, count conversions such as sign-ups and subscriptions, and show more relevant ads. They set cookies such as _fbp and _fbc (up to 90 days). We also keep for 90 days a first-party cookie called tapeto_attribution that records the campaign that brought you here (UTM parameters, gclid, fbclid and the referring site) and is shared between tapeto.dev and app.tapeto.dev. If you have accepted cookies and subscribe to a plan, our servers also send that purchase to Meta (Conversions API) and Google Analytics, with your email address in hashed (irreversible) form, connection data (IP address and browser type) and the campaign identifiers, so the conversion is counted even if your browser blocks the tags. While your consent lasts we keep in your account the campaign that brought you here, and we delete it if you withdraw your consent.
Payment Cookies
Stripe sets cookies during checkout and on the billing portal to detect fraud, remember cart state, and process payments securely. These are set only when you interact with billing pages.
Third Parties and International Transfers
Google, Meta and Microsoft may process data on servers outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards they publish, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. Please consult their privacy policies for details.
Your Choice
Analytics and advertising tools only load after you click Accept in the cookie banner; your choice is saved in your browser under the name tapeto_cookie_consent. If you decline, none of them is loaded and no data is sent to them. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page; withdrawing does not affect processing carried out before. To remove cookies already stored, use your browser settings.
Managing Cookies
Besides the cookie banner and the “Cookie settings” link, you can control cookies in your browser's privacy settings or by emailing privacy@tapeto.dev. Declining analytics and advertising cookies will not affect your ability to use the service.
